Rated 1 out of 5 by from Junk! All batteries were dead when I bought it. Purchased all new batteries and went to use it a few months later, all the batteries are dead again! Coleman should make this rechargeable so it can be used more than once without constantly replacing the batteries.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Can be upgraded The alkaline Dcells are wired in 2 parallel strings of 4 batteries. I replaced them with NiMH recharagables, wired to a waterproof charging port I added near the base. I bought a high-current 4-cell external NiMH battery charger to plug in to the port, and now I have a proper rechargable lantern. It should have come this way from the factory, but it was an easy upgrade.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from BAD I bought in Canada, (I live in Mexico) a quad pro flashlight however only two panels light when they are removed, they should also have included a charger in the USB port for all rechargeable batteries, for reasons of ecology and economy, it is excessive cost of batteries, and inconvenient to remove and put batteries to recharge. Honestly the price of the flashlight does not correspond to your service, I am many years old and 4 coleman flashlights, I expected more from this, I am disappointed it is a pity, is there any way to modify this? Thank you

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big improvement over previous generation I've used the dual detachable LED lantern for a number of years now. I find the concept to be useful for camping so I decided to try to new quad lantern. The quad lantern is a big improvement. The two additional independent lights are useful in a campsite and the magnets allow for more positioning options. I'll reserve judgement on how reliable the connectors and rechargeable batteries are until I use it more. The flashlight mode and the USB port are very useful. While the battery requirements are significant, the service provided is worth it. Based on the dual lantern, I expect the batteries to last for a number of years of occasional usage.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy for power outages We bought this for power outages. The problem is that the four panel lights constantly suck power from the installed D cells to stay charged. Result: No power at all when you really need it. Replacing eight D cells regularly is expensive, but if you don't, you have no reliable light source. Camping use, maybe. Emergency use, NO.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Fantastic lantern BUT not rechargeable?! This is an awesome light for camping. Use it for everything. Great to rip off a panel and give it to the kids to go off into the dark. BUT ... 6x D cell batteries? Are you guys serious. It’s 2020, why on earth would you make it not rechargeable? We got ours as a gift, I would never have brought it otherwise.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible application Terrible, especially for the price. If you leave the batteries in they’ll drain from the panels that charge off the D batteries. If you take the batteries out between use, the panels will drain and need to be charged when you put the batteries in. The panels will have to charge up which drains the batteries which puts you at a disadvantage right when you get to the camp site. I have to replace 8x D cell batteries every few months I go camping which is crazy because of the cost of these batteries. If you let it sit for even longer, everything is dead and at this point, nothing will come back on with new batteries. At this point it just collect dust on my shelf.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unimpressive Recharging Routine I was drawn to this lantern with advertising suggesting a USB connection... which I interpreted as "lantern recharging via USB connection". Wrong! USB connection is to attach a cell phone. In order to recharge the lantern, you must physically remove the rechargeable batteries (supplied) within each of the four detachable light panels and recharge them in your own separately purchased battery recharging system. Very archaic and user non-friendly. 8 alkaline batteries (not supplied) need to be inserted into the base of the lantern, but whose purpose I have not yet determined.
