Rated 2 out of 5 by from Come on Coleman! I have 4 Roadtrip LXE grills and they have worked great except for typical bottom tray rusting out in which they are no longer available. I decided to purchase a ne Roadtrip 285 and very disappointed. The lid doesn't close all the way because it hits the grates causing strain on the hinges. I can see them hinges breaking soon opening and closing the lid while cooking. You can't even lock the latch. You must remove the grates in order to close the lid all the way. Design flaw or quality control? A friend of mine had the same issue. Come on Coleman!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disappointed with the durability I bought this grill for camping and was disappointed to find that the entire thing just fell apart after 3 uses. I took it out 3 times, and was pretty careful with it, and already one of the pull-out shelves have fallen off and one of the handles has come apart. I was expecting this thing to hold together a little longer than 3 trips. I doubt I will buy any more Coleman products after this experience. Disappointed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a wonderful product from Coleman. I am so thankful for inventing such a compact and portable grill that caters to all of my road trip cooking needs. It comes with foldable stand and roller wheels to move it wherever needed. It comes with three burner tops and fully caters to my cooking needs. The matchless insta start ignition is every campers dream come true. Be it meat or veggies it Cooks them up to their perfect point. With heat adjustable from a few BTUs to several BTUs I can enjoy both slow cooked meals as well as smoked flavor meals. It is compact and folds upright till we use it for our next road trip. I have already recommended it to my friends. Wonderful and awesome product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grill anywhere [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I absolutely love my Coleman RoadTrip 285 Portable Stand-Up Propane Grill. It is so easy to set up and take down and fits perfectly in the back of my car without taking up all the space. It’s perfect for a trip to the lake, beach, or park as well as tailgating at football games or just around the house. I love that we no longer have to drive around to find an open grill on our outings. We just park and set up wherever we want to eat. It’s one hand set up and take down is so easy with no fuss. It has 3 separate burners that can be adjusted individually to cook multiple items. You can also buy additional cook tops to switch out the grill grates with a griddle or stove grate. The grill uses a 1lb propane tank that can be switched out easily so you never have to worry about the weather your cooking in putting your coals out. I definitely recommend everyone own one of these as it will also come in handy if you ever have a power outage at home you can just fire up the grill and make a hot, tasty meal right at home.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design and quality I bought this during COViD to replace my last roadtrip that I wore out, and due to medical reasons it sat in its box unassembled until recently. I finally have the opportunity to get back to camping so I assembled it and took it on our first trip. Used it a total of 3 times and very disappointed. The “water tray” is already rusting and paint peeling despite being thoroughly cleaned and dried after each use. Despite having 3 burners, each individually controlled, temperature regulation is nearly impossible as it heats to 400 degrees with just a single side burner on low. I’ve camped and owned Coleman products my entire life, at least 80% of my current gear is Coleman, but this product and it’s quality is a disgrace to the name. Very disappointed

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality Pulling the grill up so it can connect to the looping mechanism to keep upright is cumbersome. Then when I closed it/collapsed it the mechanism broke, so I know have to have a bungee cord to keep it closed. Then the next time I laid it kinda hard on the ground and the wheels broke off. Now, it's more pain than anything. This is my first Coleman and not sure I'll buy a new another one

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap made does not stay lit. I purchased this product for a deck in my new townhouse. What a waste of money the unit does not stay lit if it stay lit flickers constantly. When the wind blows the flame blows out. I guess you can’t use on windy days. I purchased this in July the unit is covered and is already rusting. I had previous Webber grill never had problem at old house. Just a big mistake this grill

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Right burner doesn’t work The right burner doesnt light and if it does it’s not enough to cook on the one side takes hours to cook there are no replacement parts for the burns just the interchangeable griddle and things like that I’m pretty disappointed giving I wanted a big grill while camping since I have a large family but basically got what I had just for a lot more money which is pretty frustrating

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Family Beach Days [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This little grill is perfect for home, camping or a road trip. I took this grill on a couple of family trips to the beach and it's perfect. It is easy to set up, very portable, and easy to use. It easily fit a few burgers and hot dogs on the grill, and the pull out sides were great to put buns, condiments, and plates. It is also easy to clean, pack up and get in the car. I will definitely be getting a lot of use out of this grill. I'm so glad that we have this for family trips!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lid lock I just received my Coleman 285 grill!! I am very excited have not tried it out yet. After I assembled the legs and inserted the grills I noticed that the lid lock sits to high and to far away from the locking slot to latch the lid closed? It works if I remove the grill grates . Am I supposed to remove the grates lock the lid?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my Coleman grill I have owned it a little over a year now and have used it several times. Once for a going away party for 12 people, a BBQ for a small car dealership as well. This grill heats up quickly and cooks evenly. It folds up and is easy to handle and lift. It’s been better than my expectations, and love using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wonderful grill! Very easy to assemble. They also sell covers specifically for it decently priced on Amazon , I bought one and it’s pretty great. It heats up pretty nicely. I made some hotdogs and some small burgers to put on slider buns, and both cooked very nicely! Only complaint I do have is that I wish it was a bit more non stick. There’s a couple spots that stuck on, but I was able to get it off with some grill cleaner and a scrub daddy. Also I was a little shocked that you have to put water in it while using it but it’s okay, not inconvenient, just surprised by it. But over all, it’s pretty great and I’d absolutely recommend it. You really cannot beat it for the price since it can be used at home or for travel even.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from regulator stoped working - no replacement Bought this grill a year ago. Worked great for 6 months. Regulator stopped woking. No flow from the tank to the grill. No replacement regulator available. Thought if I paid a bit more, I'd have a quality grill for a few years. Do yourself a favour and buy a comparable Weber grill.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from "Only works at room temperature" I have a Coleman RoadTrip grill for camping. It is very portable and good for grilling although has several major problems. The grill is heavy and if you are not careful it can easily collapse. This has happened, damaging the porcelain top. The grill tops are cast iron and nice for grilling although are heavy. The grill top latch is not adequate to hold the weight of the grill tops and will pop open causing the grill tops to fall. Once again, this has happened. I now use a bungee cord to secure the grill top. Worst of all, the grill will not light if the air temperature is 60 degrees or less. I tried several different LP tanks without success. My camping neighbors now grill for me whenever its less than 60 degrees. The owner’s manual does not state anything about operating temperature. When I called Colman and noted the issue, after a long time on hold, I was told this grill "only works a room temperature" and there is no fix or remedy for the issue. I live in Wisconsin so a RoadTrip grill is virtually useless. I would never buy another Coleman RoadTrip grill.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing grill This is an amazing grill. Works perfect for myself and my family when we go camping and at home. And for breakfast i put a round cake pan in it and cook pancakes and eggs or whatever I want. Its amazing. Best I've ever had.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water Pan Rusted in Less Than a Year!! Garbage!! The water pan rusted out and fell apart after less than a year of use, and Coleman doesn't offer a replacement part. Avoid this and any other Coleman model grill with a water pan grease trap design. Absolute garbage

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh. Wow. Surprise. Surprise! Love this! Purchases for personal use. This Grill will save you so much money in propane. You can just heat up half of it, just the inside ring, the outer ring. Nice quality, very attractive, and space saving.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They just keep getting better! This is the third Roadtrip grill I’ve owned over the last several years. They’ve all cooked great and been very mobile (which helps when the Navy moves you every couple years), but this version is also very easy to clean. The third burner, relocated gas hookup, and safety latch (when folded) are all great improvements. While I’m looking forward to cooking many great meals on this grill, I’m also looking forward to the additional improvements Coleman makes for my fourth Roadtrip grill.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Used twice, the lid fell off due to way too small rivets used on the two three hole hinges. Not the Coleman of year past, sad! Waste of a once great name.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very portable. One item that i found. if you are 6 ft tall and want to pull the grill. You have to been over to pull ;or the handle on the down side drags when pulling.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 2 assembly problems One of the holes for attaching the wheel bolt was not milled properly. There was an extraneous piece of metal in the threads. I was able to remove most of it with a screwdriver, but then had to use a socket to power through the obstruction to get the bolt attached. The other problem was with the bracket under the unit which holds the legs up when they are collapsed. The bracket came bent and when I tried to push the wings back one of them snapped off under hardly any pressure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little grill is the perfect fit! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love love this grill! It’s large enough to accommodate a decent amount of food, but compact enough to fit in a quaint space. The first time out we made four burgers and six brats and still had room to spare! It heats quickly and evenly the temp gauge on top is super handy! It lights easily, heats quickly and assembled and disassembles pretty nicely! I’m a fan!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I like that it has 3 burners I bought this grill to replace an old Coleman grill. I sat it up on my patio and grilled some steaks. it worked great. then i went to load it in my truck. Going from the back patio to my driveway, the lid popped open. The grills fell out, hit the ground while I was trying to grab everything. now the lid is bent, the grills are both broken on the end from hitting the concrete. my old grill had 2 real latches on the lid and was not made out of thin sheet metal

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed I used this may be five times last season. Now, spring is back and when i lighted on the BBQ, fire came under the in the metal casing. I had to shut it down!!! I tried to unscrew the box to see if some parts might need some tightening up but the casing won’t come out. This thing is a waste of money. The warranty must be over by now even if it spent nine months in the garage. Nobody would expect an almost new BBQ to take fire this way. It is dangerous

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Portable Outdoor Grill Option Grill cooks well, is compact and fairly durable. The cover is actual porcelain coated and will chip if impacted. Clean up is pretty easy due to the pan that sets under the grates that can also be filled with water for moisture while cooking. Suggest getting the optional hose to use with a regular propane tank unless you want to carry a lot of portable gas bottles with you. The sliding shelves on the side are pretty small and partially blocked by the handles on the side of the grill making the useful space pretty limited when extended. The hood lock is flimsy and comes unlocked easily, thus spilling the grates out when being moved on the wheels in a vertical position. When stowing the legs, the guides for the legs are flimsy and easy bent. Once in place though, the lock does keep them secure. A good option for portable grilling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from UNBELIEVABLE LIL GRILL! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I originally bought this grill to do a few hamburgers, and hot dogs since my lil cousin was going to be playing at The University Of Miami...needed a good grille asap! This grill has done just that, and so much more...went so far as to purchasing the griddle, and burner attachments. This grill lives on the back of my truck. Someone tell Santa that I need a updated version of this same one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable Performing Quality [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased an RV and needed a grill for traveling that would fit in the side storage compartments. We enjoy quality BBQ not just cooking out. I have enjoyed Coleman cook stoves for many years while camping in a tent but we upgraded to an RV so it was time to upgrade the outdoor cooking as well. I purchased the ROADTRIP 285 grill this summer and let me tell you it is an awesome grill. The Roadtrip 285 offers a flat griddle and wire attachment for a frying pan in accessories so we purchased them as well anticipating cooking out side of the RV. We cooked steaks to perfection with the 3 burner heat controls. We cooked steaks on one side and fish on the other which turned out equally awesome. We cooked bacon, eggs and pancakes which turned out perfect. There is nothing you can not cook to perfection on the Roadtrip 285 grill. The grill is easily portable by collapsing it down and rolling it around with the attached wheels and handle. The grill is super easy to clean. The Roadtrip 285 is built like a tank out of quality materials with plenty of cooking surface that will accommodate cooking for several people while entertaining guest yet small enough to haul in our camper. I was so impressed with the performance of the Roadtrip 285 grill including the easily seen thermometer that when my home grill needs replaced I will be purchasing another Roadtrip 285 grill for use at home.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Parts wanted This has been a great grill for me! However, the regulator has not been working recently. I understand this and parts sometimes have to be replaced. However, i am having a real hard time finding the exact regulator i need to purchase. I can neither find the model number to aid me in the search. All i want is the info i need to purchase the correct regulator to get my grill back up and running. Any aid will much appreciated! thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Ideal BBQ Gril [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this BBQ Grill!! Its the perfect size for my family! The Coleman RoadTrip 285 Portable Stand-Up Propane Grill is packaged very well, the instructions were easy to read and follow. I assembled the grill without any issues. I was very impressed with the quality and how sturdy the grill is. The first night, I grilled hamburgers and they turned out perfect, they all cooked evenly and were done at the same time! Even my 13 year old son grilled some hamburgers on it, all by himself. Cleaning the grill is easy. I did have a mess though when I pulled out the water pan. The Coleman RoadTrip 285 Portable Stand-Up Propane Grill is so handy! It's easy to store, and perfect for packing up with you to take on camping trips, float trips, or as we will be using it for when my son has his dirtbike races!!
