Our Favourite Camping Destinations

At Coleman we love to get outdoors! There are so many places to get outside, whether it’s to camp, hike, or just enjoy the fresh air! We have compiled a list of some of our favourite camping destinations from across Canada so you can get outdoors too!

1. Algonquin Provincial Park - Southern Ontario

Why we love it: It’s the oldest provincial park in Canada and has something for everyone!
Activities at Algonquin: Camping in developed campgrounds, back-country camping, backpacking, biking, boating, canoeing, dog sledding, fishing, hunting, hiking, pic-nicking, skiing, snowmobiling, swimming, and enjoying numerous wildlife.
Fun fact: Algonquin Provincial Park is larger than the province of Prince Edward Island!

2. Bon Echo Provincial Park – Cloyne, Ontario

Why we love it: The great hiking trails that range from 1 km to 17 km in length, and from easy to difficult!
Activities at Bon Echo: Backcountry camping, car camping, radio-free camping, biking, bird watching, boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, natural heritage education, and swimming.
Fun fact: Bon Echo is home to the 100 m high, Mazinaw Rock which features over 260 Aboriginal pictographs or rock paintings.

3. Cultus Lake Provincial Park – Cultus Lake, British Columbia

Why we love it: The amazing beaches and beautiful mountain views!

Fun fact: The park was designated to Provincial Park status in 1948

4. Roche Lake Provincial Park – Knutsford, British Columbia

Why we love it: The world class trout fishing lakes!

Fun fact: The rock climbing routes have quirky names such as “boogie Train”, and “Hard Day at the Office”

5. La Mauricie National Park – Shawinigan, Quebec

Why we love it: Swimming in the natural pools of the Cascades waterfalls is breathtaking!

Fun fact: It contains over 150 lakes!

6. Forillon National Park – Gaspé, Quebec

Why we love it: You can get up close and personal with 7 species of whales!

Fun fact: Forillon was the first national park in Quebec!

7. Banff National Park – Banff, Alberta

Why we love it: The rocky mountain scenery and ample wildlife!

8. Jasper National Park – Jasper, Alberta

Why we love it: The wilderness, wildlife and mountain peaks offer endless outdoor adventures!

9. Gros Morne National Park – Rocky Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador

Why we love it: The diverse landscape from fjords and mountains to beaches, bogs and forests!
Activities at Gros Morne:Explore the tablelands (where the Earth’s mantle was pushed upward), boating, cruises, hiking, kayaking, pic-nicking, swimming, camping, cycling, skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling
Fun fact: The rocks at Gros Morne helped lead to our understanding of plate tectonics today!

10. Terra Nova National Park – Mallorytown, Newfoundland and Labrador

Why we love it: The seaside camping!

Fun fact: You’re never more than 5 km from the ocean while in the park!

11. Blackstrap Provincial Park – Dundurn, Saskatchewan

Why we love it: It’s home to one of the few man-made mountains in the world!

Fun fact: Mount Blackstrap was created for a ski hill for the 1971 Canada Winter Games and was operational until 2007!

12. Prince Albert National Park – Central Saskatchewan

Why we love it: The great mix of activities for backcountry campers and day trippers!

13. Kejimkujik National Park – Maitland Bridge, Nova Scotia

Why we love it: The juxtaposition between the Inland with its aspen trees and warm water lakes and the seaside with its white sand beaches!
Activities at Kejimkujik: Camping, hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, wilderness hiking, wilderness canoeing, swimming, bird watching, pic-nicking, fishing, geocaching, star gazing, and crabbing.
Fun fact: It’s the only national park whose almost entire area is a National Historic Site!

14. Cape Breton Highlands National Park – Cap Breton, Nova Scotia

Why we love it: The famed 298 km Cabot trail!

Fun fact: It is one of the largest protected wilderness areas in Nova Scotia!

15. Birds Hill Provincial Park – St. Clements, Manitoba

Why we love it: The mixture of forest and open prairie landscape!

Fun fact: Home to one of North America’s largest folk music events, the Winnipeg Folk Festival!

16. Fundy National Park – Alma, New Brunswick

Why we love it: Kayaking in the world’s highest tides!

Fun fact: The tides in the bay can rise to 16 meters! That’s the height of a four story building!

17. Prince Edward Island National Park - North Rustico, Prince Edward Island

Why we love it: A sand castle expert will teach you how to build your best sand castle!
